I'm Dreaming Of Peace And Love In Israel And The Whole Middle East, I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas, I'm Dreaming, I'm Dreaming- - - - - -

Mr. Bush was speaking in front of the Knesset today, for those of you who may be wondering what the Knesset is it is the equivalent of Parliament or our Congress or Senate, in Israel marking the 60th anniversary of Israeli independence. In that speech he predicted that by 2068, the 120th anniversary of Israeli independence, that the State of Israel and Palestine would be living alongside each other in peace and harmony. Free of all restrictions of freedom, no Muslim extremism and a middle east devoid of oppression. Nice dream George, he must have found some of that same hallucinogenic material he partook of in the sixties, stashed in a zip up pocket of an old flight suit left over from his Air Guard days. In other words, what you been smokin' boy or them mushrooms didn't come from no can at the supermarket! Predictions are nice but, we have heard so many that either have not and will never come true from this guy that he should finally admit he is no Nostradamus, has no psychic ability and in fact is a real bad guesser.

A quick look at the middle east pretty much spells out how things are going to be there for the foreseeable future. Muslims as a group hate Jews, pure and simple. In fact Muslims on the whole don't really care for anyone who is not Muslim, but, Jews appear to be at the top of the list. They have said time and again through their various mouthpieces that they advocate the total destruction of the State Of Israel and it's people (current mouthpiece being Iran, and if you notice no Muslims ever speak up and say that the oppose that view). The Saudis, the principle exporters of, as well as financiers of terrorism tolerate Israel only because of their involvement with the US and that could change if certain people are elected in this country. Egypt will probably only take another thousand years or so to get over the drubbing they took at the hands of Israel in the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, better known as the Six Day War. Syria has had no better luck and I'm sure will take forever to get over the a _ _ kicking's they have taken from time to time. Iraq, which is dominated by Shiite Muslims has yet to weigh in under the new government, but give them some time and I can almost guarantee what they will do, the Muslim world is quite predictable in this instance. Lebanon doesn't count since they are constantly in a state of civil war that looks as though it will go on indefinitely into the future. Which brings me to today's point.

How can anyone with an ounce of common sense and even the smallest bank of knowledge regarding the history of the Arab world, specifically the land mass that comprises Israel and Palestine even muse about peace and love coming to that region. The Arabs, specifically the Muslims have been after the Jews for over a thousand years. As stated above they want them exterminated. Now, for those of you who need a Webster definition of extermination, here goes; To get rid of completely usually by killing off, get the point? Mr. Bush, though not the strongest president we have ever had with regard to domestic issues (We'll cover that one in another blog) is supposed to have a fair understanding of what goes on in the Arab world, he thinks of himself as a foreign policy guy. My goodness, his family has such a long history in the oil business, one would think he should be an expert or at the very least something should have rubbed off on him over the years. And to top that Mr. Cheney, our illustrious VP has a long relationship with the venerable Halliburton Company and it's dealings in the Arab world in the oil field services business and at the very least should have been able to counsel his boss on some of the most minor intricacies and idioms from that part of the world, sometime during the last eight years.

Well, I just don't know what to say. I'm sure this went over like the proverbial lead balloon with the Knesset, seeing that the Palestinians or Hamas or Hamas or the Palestinians or whatever had just fired rockets into a market in Jerusalem wounding 14 people. Should the Israeli's be skeptical of overtures of peace and love by their rancorous rag headed neighbors, I say yes, in fact a really big yes. I think Mr. Bush may think his powers of suggestion are so great that he may be able to hipmotize (hypnotize, for the overly literate) the Arab world with happy thoughts. The sad reality is that Mr. Bush is nearing the end of his time in office, that he resides over a failing economy, got us mired into a war that was mishandled and mis-run by his closest civilian advisers, who by the way, fancied themselves military geniuses. He has one of the lowest if not the lowest approval ratings of any President in history, coming by most of it honestly, and as such I am sure would like to go out on a high note. Nice dreams are not going to make it happen Mr. President.
