Could It Be A Hearing Problem Or Just Plain Selective Stupidity!

A news item today grabbed my interest and I think warrants at least a response. This particular bit of reporting deals with a newspaper article that came out of Israel today regarding the senior Bush administration people traveling with the president this past week in the middle east, stating that someone overheard sr. administration people saying the United States wants to attack Iran before the end of the year. That Mr. Bush & Mr. Cheney believe a military action is called for. This piece of journalistic excellence came from the Jerusalem Post, an English language paper with a widespread distribution, founded in 1932. Was originally a very left leaning publication which then swung to the right in the 1980's and then when ownership changed again in 2004 took, what is being called, a complex centrist position. In other words it is a somewhat conservative paper with left wing articles and commentary. I would attribute the attack Iran commentary to the left wing side of the paper and pretty much leave it at that. I don't believe that the Bush administration people, no matter how much they fancy themselves military geniuses, would be arrogant enough to think that they can show any justification to get us into another war. There are also, several very good rational reasons that this whole idea won't fly, hold water, make muster, pass the acid test or amount to a fart in a wind storm. I realize that rational is not one of the best words to describe this current administration but in this case I really think it applies.

First, our troops are about as stretched as they can be at this time considering the size of our standing military. Second, to adequately cover a conflagration of that size and scope, because it is my humble opinion that this type of action could very well be the start of world war III, short of dropping nuclear, or as the president routinely says nuc-youler, bombs there would have to be a draft re-instated today, May 20th and be in full operation before noon which at this writing is fifteen minutes away. Third, congress and the senate would never go along with this idea, not because they are so much against the basic idea, they would all be voted out of office and their desire to keep their congressional and senate seats overshadows their potential towards bad judgement. Fourth and last, the president is a lame duck, that means for the uninformed, that he has a tough time getting a set of duplicate keys approved for the white house men's room, let alone scaling up for another war.

My first impression was that someone in Israel was turning the tables on the US president because of his I've been dreaming about total peace in the middle east speech last week in front of the Knesset , kind of a turn about is fair play joke or a gotcha joke. Once again I am going to go out, way out on the commentary limb and side with the Bush administration on this one and agree with the Bush administration spokesperson when she said in essence, this is a crock of b _ _ l s _ _ t (loosely interpreted) or in her politically correct manner "it's not worth the paper it's written on". The American people are about done with war for the time being and I would think it will be a while before there will be a mood in this country that will welcome an armed conflict, short of a massive attack on US soil, our soil, like the continental US, like Florida, Michigan, North Dakota you know right here. I can't even attribute this bit of stupidity to the Clinton or Obama people as a dirty trick, this, this is from the mind of a complete goof.
