Vice President Biden announces how we are going to beat the Taliban, click our heels together and say Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!

I was watching the news this morning when they ran a clip of Vice President Biden on Meet The Press, or some other nationally broadcast news 'show' like that, being questioned about the war in Afghanistan. Sporting his usual authoritative rhetoric he proceeded to tell the inquisitor, Mr Gregory, the following. We are winning on all fronts in the war in Afghanistan, really now, and when did this come about. Why just a day or two ago there was some General on and it may have even been General Petraeus who stated for the record that we have made great strides in the south of Afghanistan but are having difficulty in other areas as well as the new violence that has been taking place. But we expect things to improve with the surge and the new tactics we are employing.

Then he, VP Biden, proceeded to tell the viewing audience that we were on time with the planned pullout in 2014 and to show how positive he is he stated it would not be a 'token' pullout but we would be turning the entire mess over to the Afghan Army and they would be fully capable to handle anything that comes their way. Again, what door was this guy standing behind when brains were being handed out, or is he just out there acting as his boss' mouthpiece while that wily Barack Obama tries to remake his image in an effort to get ready for a second run at the White House? I'd say a lot of both!

After listening to Mr. Biden spilling our exit strategy to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda for the umpteenth time, I decided to put myself in the sandals of some Taliban planner and see what I could come up with in less than five minutes. Knowing that the U.S. plans to leave in 2014 I would do the following; 1. Keep a little pressure in the form of small attacks, disinformation and an occasional suicide bomber on the US, Afghan forces and Afghan people so they don't get the impression that I'm just laying back waiting for the US forces to leave so I can march into Kabul and take over. 2. I would have my forces begin to infiltrate the armed forces and police throughout Afghanistan so when the U.S. does pull out it will be easy to cause all out chaos through subversion of the forces and all out terrorism. 3. I'd start the peace talks that crooked Karzai wants to have with the Taliban so I could get a good idea of how this corrupt despot runs things and to see if he would be willing to cut me in on the action which would provide funding for my movement.

What are these guys thinking? It doesn't take the the Rand Corporation or any of the other God knows how many useless think tanks in Washington to see that this whole thing is a crap shoot at best. When are our politicians going to let the military fight the wars that they get us into, I can guarantee if they did there would be significantly fewer losses and the wars would be over much more quickly.

"Tis a mistake to think this Fault (tyranny) is proper only to Monarchies; other forms of government are liable to it, as well as that. For where-ever the power that is put in any hands for the Government of the People, and the Preservation of their Properties, is applied to other ends, and made use of to impoverish, harass, or subdue them to the Arbitrary and Irregular Commands of those that have it: There it presently becomes Tyranny whether those that thus use it are one or many".
