At the behest of his masters in China, Kim Jong Il fires one missile after another in an effort to heighten tensions with the west, then appoints his youngest son as his successor and names him 'brilliant comrade' (I'm sure the Chinese had their writers working overtime on that one), then sets off an underground nuke which is more than likely China's way of getting around test ban and non proliferation treaties, while simultaneously putting two American journalists of Korean descent on trial for spying or whatever their kangaroo court system can contrive. And through it all the Chinese continue to say that they haven't got any control over what their puppet nation does to antagonize the rest of the world.
The above may seem to be somewhat of an outrageous statement, but, a certain logic dictates otherwise. Everything that Kim does in North Korea benefits the Chinese directly. They allow him to be a distraction and because he is so extreme he takes heat away from the Chinese system which in most ways is a parallel of N Korea's. We have been lulled over the last few years into thinking that China is no longer a strict Communist system and instead is kinder gentler capitalist/communist/socialist hybrid, wrong. The Chinese people are under the absolute control of their government, the have a gigantic, and I mean gigantic military that is being expanded at an incredible pace. They also have the Red Chinese Secret police system that rivals the KGB of old and new and any other intelligence and enforcement organization in history for that matter. If you aren't a member of the communist party you're basically an expendable nobody, and that means no decent education, housing or employment opportunities.
I guess what I'm saying is that I trust the Chinese about as much as I trust the North Koreans.
