I can just imagine the level of anxiety that ran through every member of the House when they impeached Federal Judge Samuel Kent of Texas, today. Not because they had a daunting task before them but because many of them are probably guilty of the same offense they were impeaching the judge for. Rep. John Conyers of Michigan said the issue before them was shocking and shameful, Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas came forth with a healthy dose of good old Texas bull s_ _t when he said he was not unsympathetic to the judge who claimed to be suffering from alcohol abuse and depression from the death of his first wife (that must be some kind of cryptic bureaucrat speak indicating he has a second wife somewhere), and I wonder if his second wife is upset by his forcing himself on his female staffers. However Rep. Alcee Hastings of the great sovereign state of Florida said nothing, probably because he himself was impeached as a federal judge for corruption charges and for the life of me I can't understand how anyone with an ounce of brains would vote a crook like him to another office, no wonder he has such a fine smile on his face on his Congressional site.
For some reason Congress won't or can't fire this goof, and since he refuses to resign he is going to collect his $175,000.00 salary next year, now if that isn't justice gone wrong I don't what qualifies. Since nothing was mentioned about loss of pension, I'm sure he will be collecting one which means the taxpayers are getting double screwed and remember he's a federal judge so we all take this one the hard way. Here's a little scenario to provoke some thought; If you or I went before a judge with similar charges and claimed we were alcohol abusers and or depressed over something they would still throw the book at us, it would cost a fortune in legal fees and not only would we be fired from our jobs when we went to prison, if we were public servants we would lose our pension and would probably have to register as sex offenders.
This nonsense has to end and the only way it will is if the voters start voting these sitting politicians out of office. They write the laws and they also bend them to fit any given situation regardless of the cost to their constituents. A little something to think about when the 2010 elections come up.
